Registration will take place
on Monday, July 12 from 2 - 5 p.m. The evening will be busy with a reception
followed by a chance to talk tools, meet the instructors, and more.
During the week we will cover such topics as text writing with broad and pointed
pens, various forms of penmanship, watercolor, border design, and illumination.
Instructors include: John DeCollibus, Rosemary Buczek, Michael Sull,
Gwen Weaver, and Cathy Ledeker. Share an evening with our Master Penman
and others whose passions lie in various forms of writing and flourishing.
Our field trip will take you to enjoy the sights and sounds of Newport,
Rhode Island! A brief guided tour to capture the beauty of the city
by the sea, a visit to what was once called a summer "cottage", the experience
of stepping back in time to observe architecture from the gilded age and of
course, penmanship and various lettering throughout the day dating back to
the 1700's.
I impress upon you to experience this day as one of seeing pattern
and design in everything. I encourage you to bring a sketchbook and
pencil and spend a few minutes at each of our unique locations sketching designs
for future use in your work. You won't want to miss this trip!
(Don't be fooled, it's really a workshop in disguise!)
Saturday, the 17th, our last day together will be filled with classes,
our silent auction, group photo, and a banquet fit for a summer's evening
at the beach and our closing ceremonies.
